Alesha Cid Vega

The New School

Alesha Cid-Vega is a current graduate Psychology MA student at The New School for Social Research. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and Performing Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. Before joining the Trauma & Global Mental Health Lab at The New School, Alesha worked in direct services with refugees and asylum seekers as well as in partnerships and volunteer operations with HIAS New York. She has served as a Spanish translator and interpreter for several community-based immigration organizations. More recently, she completed a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support fellowship with the International Rescue Committee’s Technical Advising Health Unit. Alesha’s research interests center around mental health interventions, migration, trauma and collective resilience, competency-based assessment and role-play simulations in research and clinical training, as well as community models of mental health care in the performing arts sector .
